How does it work?

Simply set up your favorite board game as you usually would, but instead of using the actual dice, open this application on your laptop or PC, enter the players names, and use the software to roll. Use either with a mouse, the keyboard or even a remote control!

Why replace the dice with software?

It makes games faster.

Rolling is faster and easier. You can add a timer that starts and resets automatically with each roll to make each turn faster. Make up your own rules for what happens when the timer runs out. For example in Cities and Knights, eliminate trades and playing of Progress cards.

It makes games more accurate.

For Cities and Knights, you'll never forget to move the barbarians forward on a black roll. The game automatically tracks the number of black rolls in multiples of seven. The counter flashes on each increment and can optionally play a sound so you always know when its being incremented and especially when it reaches seven.

It settles arguments.

You can see how often any particular number has been rolled so no one can accuse you of winning because a number came up "more often than it should have". You'll know exactly how often it came up, making your win totally legitimate.

It makes you a better player.

Knowing how often each number has been rolled can make you a better player, both during the game and for future games. For both the Settlers of Catan and the Cities and Knights of Catan, you'll know if a resource is truly plentiful or if a certain number has just been hitting more often than normal, or conversely, if you can really expect a shortage of a resource, or if it should even out later. You'll know at the end of a game that you didn't play badly and don't need to change strategy next time, chance just favored another player this game, but likely won't next time.

It makes games more fun.

Board games are all about fun. If you play better, if there are fewer unnecessary delays, if things are tracked automatically and error-free and if everyone gets along, it will be a more fun and enriching experience, helping to build friendships, families and camaraderie.
